Dingle to Lisdoonvarna

Hi friends,
This week has been a whirlwind of spectacular! James and I feel like everything is so surreal! Thursday afternoon, James and I went on a beautiful 2 1/2 hour hike along the cliffs of Dingle. Afterwards we made our way into Dingle Town to explore. It was rainy so we didn't do much, but walk in and out of a few different pubs. We watched some of the USA vs. Germany game and talked with a kind Irishman!

Yesterday, we got up at 7:00, which was WAY TOO EARLY according to the woman working at the hostel! Then we about 4-5 hours to Lisdoonvarna. This was a beautiful drive, long and tiring but so beautiful! Lisdoonvarna is a very quaint little town. It literally is one street. Our hostel is one block from the "downtown".  When we got here yesterday we walked around a bit and then decided to take another nap. We really needed to get on the "Irish Time Schedule", which means waking up late and staying up late. We bought a few groceries and made dinner- salad and pasta. Then walked over to a little pub in town called the Rathbaun Hotel. James and I were definitely the youngest in the bar but it was so nice! There was great live Irish music from a young band, playing cover songs. It wasn't crowded and I had my first Jameson straight in Ireland! (happy-girl) Then we walked over to another well known pub called the Roadside Tavern. This pub was much more crowded but still with live music. We found a small table in the back and had a glass of Jameson together (really Jameson in a pub in Ireland doesn't get any better)!

We are finally on Irish/European time! We stayed up late last night and got up late (9:00 haha) this morning. We had a bit of breakfast and took off for the Cliffs of Moher (said Cliffs of "More" because why would they call it the Cliffs of Less!).  These cliffs are stunning, incredible, spectacular all in one! They are about 702 ft high above the Atlantic Ocean and we walked all along the tops, literally about 5 feet, sometimes less from the edge! We spent a few hours, taking in all the beauty and were in awe of how remarkable it was! We came back for a short lunch at our hostel and then went on a drive to see The Burren area. This is an area so barren that it is called The Burren. The drive took us on the adventure of seeing our first real run down castle, as well as this land of solely rocks. It really wasn't much to see but it was a nice drive. Shortly we are headed back to the Roadside Tavern to have a bowl of Seafood Chowder, it's supposed to be delicious!

Tomorrow we are off to Galway, a university town!
