Stella at 18 months

It's hard to believe that 18 months have passed since Stella was born. The time has flown by and every day seems like she is growing up more and more. We are constantly thinking and talking about how smart and advanced she is for her age. Then there are times when she throws a tantrum or just wants to lay in our bed rather than her crib that remind me that she isn't even 2 yet!

Stella's communicative, social, emotional, and motor development surpass most kids her age. She says hundreds of words- I lost track pretty fast. She uses 3 and 4 word phrases more and more frequently. "Lay down Mommy's bed" "come here Daddy" "Stella's turn bumblebee" She loves to say hi and bye to friends and family and usually will say hi to other people when we are out and about and they are giving her attention. She wants to play with other kids but doesn't often get the opportunity to do so.

Since starting parent-tot gymnastics classes in January (8 weeks ago) she has become a little monkey. She climbs and jumps on everything. Today at the park (on the big kid's playground) she climbed up the wobbly ladder all on her own! I was so impressed. She hangs from our kitchen counters like it's a gym bar to swing on, along with our drawers, desk, high chair, stroller, and any other thing that she might be able to hang or swing from. She hops around the house like a little bunny and then does seat drops (even though we've told her not to- her poor little bum and back) like she's on a trampoline 24/7- especially in her crib. At gymnastics she loves to hang from the rings and do inversions, and swing into the big foam pit. She loves her coach Bobby so much. The first thing they do every class is to run around the floor mats to warm up and Stella just runs and runs chasing coach saying "Bobby, Bobby, Bobby". It's pretty much the cutest thing ever!

Some of Stella's favorite things to do are read books (current favorite- Good Dog, Carl) , play with her baby dolls, do puzzles, and anything outside. She loves anything with cheese, tomatoes "may-mays", yogurt, applesauce, goldfish  crackers "go-go fish", and ice cream. We're still trying to get her to enjoy more veggies but she does like mushrooms, avocado (I consider this a fruit), carrots, and peas. She likes to talk about broccoli but always spits it out. The other day she tried raw bell pepper and seemed to like it! :)

She still has a hard time sleeping through the night- usually wakes up 1-2 times but lately has woken up and wanted to come lay in our bed, not sleep, just lay or play. It makes for a difficult night between James and I but I know that everything comes in phases and this will be one she outgrows soon enough (hopefully sooner so that I can get some sleep before baby #2 comes)!

She's fearless, loving, smart, outgoing, and beautiful. Everything we could have hoped and imagined for in our first daughter. I can't believe she is going to be a big sister in just 5 months.

I love you so much little Stella Bear!
